I know, I know… it’s been 8 months already(!) and I’m still not over it. The Twelfth Doctor’s era is over and Peter Capaldi’s time in the TARDIS is up. But, before we start moving ahead to Series 11, I wanted to reminisce about the previous three seasons that I’ve loved so much. In fact, if I could pick and choose my favourite episodes to make up the ‘definitive’ Twelfth Doctor series, what would it look like?
For this list, I’ve ranked each episode from Series 8 to 10 (comparing each season’s Episode 1, then Episode 2, and so on) to come up with my ultimate Capaldi marathon. Some choices were harder to make than others, but I’m quite pleased with what I’ve settled on. Buckle up and prepare for some controversy: it’s time to unpack my personal best Twelfth Doctor series!

Just over a year ago, Jodie Whittaker was unveiled as the Thirteenth Doctor. My reaction? “Yes. Yes. YES!” (Needless to say, I was thrilled to bits.)
Now, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Doctor 13… is a woman! And frankly, who cares? So what if the Doctor has been a man for the last 55 years and twelve (or is it thirteen?) regenerations. There’s absolutely no reason why the Doctor shouldn’t be a woman. Not logically, not ethically, not even canonically. If ever there was a time to make the change, it was now. We’ve got a new showrunner, a new production team, a new lead, and new companions, all on their way in for the 2018 series and beyond. Doctor Who as we know it is about to undergo its biggest regeneration since 2010 (perhaps even 2005), and this is one heck of a way to make it count.
